Dejan Tomasevic, the Secretary General of Serbian Basketball Association, was not elected for the President of FIBA Europe , as on the elections in Munich Turgay Demirel was re-elected and his mandate has been extended until 2023.

Dejan Tomasevic congratulated Demirel on his re-election on the post of the first man in FIBA Europe and said that in future he will continue to initiate positive changes in basketball for the purpose of further development.

In the course of my career I have learnt that defeat , as well as victory, is part of this sport and that one should take from the both situations only positive, good things and continue to walk on. I would like to congratulate to Turgay Demirel on his re-election and to wish him all the best in his next mandate . At the same time I would like to thank to all who have supported me during this campaign , to Sasa Danilovic, the President of Serbian Basketball Association , to all my associates and people who believed in my program. There is no space for disappointment, since this was only the beginning and first step towards changes that are necessary for the purpose of further development of basketball. I will continue to work on the development of basketball both in Serbia and Europe. Also, I wish hat Associations in the region bring their cooperation to higher level. That is my mission and I will not give up no matter to the current position or function. In the next period I will focus on Women’s EuroBakset, that is hosted by Serbia, as well as on the World Cup in China, because these competitions have priority at the moment. – said Tomasevic.
