Preparations of the Women’s basketball national team of Serbia at Zlatibor have entered into third week. The team practices hardly every day as to achieve the fitness and coordinate play , both in defense and offense. On the day when a promo spot has been recorded , the head coach of our team, Marina Maljkovic, expressed her impressions about practices.

It is very positive that we have started much earlier before the championship in order to compensate all problems and smaller injuries through our hard work. Most girls are familiar with the system . We try to overcome mistakes, practice more in our daily work so that the girls be the right one for Serbia – said Marina Maljkovic.

Our team plays competition group phase in Zrenjanin against Belarus, Russia and Belgium.

We have been preparing for our group from the first day. Today we are not very close to the desired fitness, but we have lot of space for improvement. We have plan for next month . We are not a national team that won medals three—four years ago , but we, despite real problems, want to surprise and find secret recipe for 12 feistiest Serbian women basketball players.

The team at Zlatibor has been refreshed. Since Monday Ana Dabovic has joined the team , and Kristina Topuzovic , the Romanian cup winner, will start the practices today, as well as Andjela Dugalic , who comes from the United States.

I invite all our players around the world to contact us and each of them shall have an opportunity to show her skills. I have said several times that my care for Serbian women’s basketball goes into distant future and that this is only one step on that path. I want that our children around the world decide to play for Serbia –Marina Maljkovic emphasized.

Andjela Dugalic is only 18. She is 193cm high .She is from Illinois and in next season she will play for Oregon University . She has been ranked as 33rd among high school girls in the United states.

The roster for Zlatibor has been shorter for three names – Aleksandra Racic, Ivana Brajkovic and Katarina Zec. I have thanked them for our cooperation- concluded Marina Maljkovic.

Our team starts competition in D group in Zrenjanin , where it will play against Belarus, Russia and Belgium in the “ Crystal Hall” . FIBA Women’s EuroBasket starts on June 27, and the six first ranked teams will qualify for the qualifier tournaments for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
