– Belgrade is the city of sport and if you ask people from Belgrade, basketball is, for sure, one of the most popular sports. This European championship is wonderful opportunity for us to promote sport again, as well as to promote organizational abilities of Belgrade and Serbia on one hand, and on the other hand to promote the city that is very important and that has good touristic offer. On the previous competitions our women basketball players have shown us that they know how to fight for Serbia in devoted, honest and brave way and there is no doubt that they will do the same this time. My message that we are waiting them on the winner’s balcony is one wish, I have no intention to make pressure on them… I am sure that they will do their best, and that is the most important. I believe that they will prepare themselves well, and we, who are engaged in the organization, and Belgrade city, will do our best for all guests and our players, so we willhave good result in all fields. Belgrade audience knows how to cheer our basketball players, both men and women, and I believe it will be the same this time, as well as that once again we will show the world that we know to organize the highest competitions.

Minister of Youth and Sport and President of the Organizational Board of the Women’s EuroBasket, Vanja Udovicic emphasized :

– There are one hundred days till the biggest sport international competition in Serbia in 2019! We want to open Serbia to the world, to show that we are far more the best in terms of organization, which we have already proved in 18 big competitions that we have had in our country in previous five years, to show that Belgrade, Nis and Zrenjanin know to be the best hosts and to send clear message of warm Serbian hospitality. This competition is very important as it promotes sport, and it is even more important as it promotes women’s basketball. I would like to thank to Ms. Zorana Mihajlovic, the
Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Coordination body for Gender Equality, that through its work promote women’s sport and advocates sport among young girls , both professional and recreational, but maybe the most important message is to attract as much girls as it is possible and send them message that it is important to take part in school sports. I am glad that Serbia will once again impose new limits. I am sure that we will be the best hosts , and our biggest success will be if at least five new girls take the path of Ana Jokovic, sisters Dabovic , Sonja Petrovic and other our “ queens” , as we have named them after the Olympic Games in Rio.

Prof. Ph.D.Zorana Mihajlovic, Deputy Prime Minister, Minster o Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure in the Government of Serbia, and the President of the Organizational Board of the Women EuroBasket 2019 had the following message:

– I am really very proud of our women basketball players, I think that they have alreadyreached the stars. I do believe that they will do it again on this European Championshipand we are with them. We will provide them with all necessary conditions, and we will begood hosts. I also believe that everybody who come to our country will enjoy, and wewill enjoy the most, because we will, for sure, win. So, women’s sport, and above allwomen basketball players, have the support of us all in the organizational board, and thesupport of all citizens of Serbia.
