Women’s senior 3×3 national team of Serbia secured the placement at FIBA 3×3 European championship that is to be held from August 14 to August 16 in Bucharest , the capital of Romania.

National team of Serbia consisting of Biljana Pesovic, Marina Markovic, Jefimija Karakasevic and Mirjana Beronja, headed by Olivera Dragicevic Krivokapic, the head coach , won the first place in B group at the qualification tournament in Andorra, and thus has directly qualified for the European championship – without playing a game in barrage ( the second and third ranked teams from both groups play for the additional two places, while the group winners directly qualify for European Championship).

On the first day of the competition our players played brilliantly and they were very concentrated in the game against Hungarian team ending it with the victory, 18:16. However, in the next game they did not play well in the game with Latvia and they lost it with the score 21:15. After the first competition day and four games in our group, all national team had one victory and one defeat, so the final solution came on the second day of the competition.

In the first game of the day Serbia celebrated victory after the game with Estonia, not questioning the victory at all. Serbia’s advantage at the beginning of the game was 5:0, then 13:8, which at the end came to 21:12. In the second and last game of the day in our group B Hungary defeated Latvia with the score 18:12, which lead both Serbia and Hungary to the leading positions in the group, but Serbia ended as the first ranked since Serbia had already defeated Hungary in the game played the day before.

Just to remind you, our women’s national players have, for the third time in a row, secured placement for the 3×3 European Championship, and it is important to emphasize that our women’s 3×3 national team is present on the European and World scene only three years.
