Radivoj Korac

Radivoj Korac was born on November 5, 1938 in Sombor. He was our first basketball player, whose performance was well ahead of the time he played in. His clubs were OKK Beograd, Standard Liege and Petrarca Italy. He was the one who led and mostly contributed to OKK Beograd to take four national championship titles (1958, 1960, 1963, 1964). As a national team member, he won two silver medals at the European Championships (1961, 1965), two silver medals at the World Championships (1963, 1967) and one at the 1968 Olympic Games, as well as a bronze medal at the 1963 European Championship. He was killed in a car accident on June 2, 1969 nearby Sarajevo, on his way back to Belgrade following an exhibition game between the national team of Yugoslavia and the selected team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In his honor, FIBA organized a competition named Radivoj Korac’s Cup. Nowadays, the national cup competition in Serbia is named after him and the winner is awarded the Radivoj Korac Cup.

Zoran Slavnic

Zoran Slavnic was born on October 26, 1949 in Belgrade. The lively playmaker of the golden generation of 1970s, the basketball player who used to break all game stereotypes with his witty performance is actually the only authentic legend of Zvezda. The famous “volleyball” he played with Dragan Kicanovic at the European Championship in Liege is even today an example of the art of basketball intended not to insult the opponent, but to show the supremacy of your own squad. Slavnic treasures gold medals from the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, the 1978 World Championship in Manila, Philippines, the 1973 European Championship in Spain, the 1975 in Yugoslavia and the 1977 in Belgium. His treasury also includes the 1976 Montreal Olympics and the 1974 Puerto Rico World Championship silver medals. Slavnic also holds the only international trophy of Zvezda, the 1974 Cup of Cups.

Drazen Dalipagic

Drazen Dalipagic was born on November 27, 1951 in Mostar. He is member of the basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. Additionally, the Partizan club all-time best scorer (8.278 points), the best European player in 1977, best scorer of the World Championship in Manila as well as the first basketball player from this region that the NBA club (Boston Celtics) was interested in.
Holder of five gold medals with the national team – the 1980 Olympics, 1978 World Championship, the 1973, 1975, 1977 European Championships, as well as three silver medals – the 1976 Olympic Games, 1974 World Championship, the 1981 European Championship and four bronze medals – the 1984 Olympic Games, the 1982 and 1986 World Championships and the 1979 European Championship. With his club Partizan of Belgrade, he won the national championship title in 1976 and the Radivoj Korac Cup in 1978.

Dragan Kicanovic

Dragan Kicanovic was born on August 17, 1953 in Cacak. Two times best player of Europe, he has also been selected as our best basketball player in the 20th century. As an official, he has been known as an ideological creator of the only Serbian European Champion – Partizan. Later on, the President of the Olympic Committee too. In the blue jersey, he won gold medals at the Olympic Games (1980), World Championship (1978), European Championship (1973, 75, 77), silver medals at the Olympic Games (1976), World Championship (1974), European Championship (1981), as well as the bronze medals at the World Championship (1982) and European Championship (1979). With his Partizan club, he won two Korac’s Cups (1978,79), three national championship titles (1976, 79, 81), the Cup of Yugoslavia (1979) and with Scavolini of Italy he added the Cup of Cups Winner trophy in 1983. Dragan Kicanovic has been a member of FIBA Hall of Fame since 2010.

Ratko Radovanovic

Ratko Radovanovic was born on September 16, 1956 in Nevesinje. The player who treasures even nine medals won with the national team what puts him in the position three, after Dalipagic who keeps a record of 12 and Kicanovic, who is a holder of 10 medals. In the position of center, he greatly contributed the achievements of the generation known as the “golden boys”. As a national team member, he “stayed” to welcome yet another golden generation.
He won gold medals at the European Championship in 1977, World Championship in 1978 and the Olympic Games in 1980, a silver medal at the 1981 European Championship, and the bronze medals at the 1979 European Championship, 1982 World Championship, 1984 Olympics, 1986 World Championship and the 1987 European Championship. With his club Bosna of Sarajevo, he became the European Champion in 1979 and also took three national championship titles and one national cup.

Zarko Paspalj

Zarko Paspalj was born on March 27, 1966 in Pljevlja. The golden left hander, a legend of our and Greek basketball holds numerous records which still stay unreachable. With his magnificent performance in the finals of the Atlanta Olympic Games, he announced the success in Indianapolis and the end of USA team domination. He was MVP of the Final Four tournament in Tel Aviv in 1994. He also played in the NBA league with San Antonio and Atlanta.
He is a holder of gold medals form the 1990 World Championship and the 1989, 1991 and 1995 European Championships. He also holds in his treasury two Olympic silver medals (1988, 1996) and one European bronze (1987).

Zoran Savic

Zoran Savic was born on November 18, 1966 in Zenica. He is one of the most successful European basketball players with even 18 trophies won in his overall club and national team competitions. He played at the position of a center, and his performance was always reliable and team oriented. Constant member of the national team during 1990s.
Zoran Savic won five medals with the national team: 4 golds (World Championship 1990, European Championship 91, European Championship 95, European Championship 97) and 1 silver (Olympic Games 1996). Four times European Champion with his clubs ( three with Jugoplastika of Split and one with Kinder of Bologna). He was MVP of the 1998 Euroleague Final-Four, winner of the European Korac Cup with PAOK and six times national league champion (Jugoplastika, Kinder Bologna, Barcelona) as well as the winner of three national cups.

Aleksandar Djordjevic

Aleksandar Djordjevic was born on August 26, 1967 in Belgrade. The playmaker, who is rarely born, whose career was decorated with three pointers. The most famous one is the one he scored in Istanbul to bring to his club Partizan the title of European Champions in 1992. Equally valuable were also those he scored in the Athens’ finals against Lithuania which returned the blues back on top of the European basketball in 1995. He replayed the Istanbul scenario against Croatia at the European Championship in Barcelona, when he hit a decisive three pointer. Two times named the best player of Europe. His treasury of medals includes the gold medals from the 1998 World Championship and the 1991, 1995 and 1997 European Championships, silver from the 1996 Olympic Games and bronze from the 1987 European Championship.

Vlade Divac

Vlade Divac was born on February 3, 1968 in Prijepolje. His brilliant NBA career made him the most famous Serbian basketball player worldwide. A playmaker in the perimeter, the basketball player with a special sense for a team game, he participated in the 1991 NBA finals and the 2002 All-Star game. Since 2009, at the position of the president of the Olympic Committee of Serbia. His national team debut was at the 1986 World Championship and was not glorious as the semi-final clash with the USSR ended with a defeat of our team. However, the 2002 World Championship in Indianapolis, which was the last one for Vlade with the national team, ended triumphantly with gold. His treasury keeps two World (1990, 2002) and three European gold medals (89, 91, 95), two Olympic silvers (1988, 1996), one World (1986) and two European (1987, 1999) bronze medals.

Member of FIBA Hall of Fame since 2010.

Predrag Danilovic

Predrag Danilovic was born on February 26, 1970 in Sarajevo. He is a holder of a record in the number of gold medals won at the European Championships. Also, he is known as one of the most successful presidents in the history of his Partizan club. His dunk over Sabonis in the 1995 European Championship finals is still being admired and talked about. Best European player in 1994. He was the most deserving for the only title of European Champions won by Partizan in 1992 along with Djordjevic. Danilovic also led Kinder to the European throne and became a legend of Bologna. In addition to four European golds (89, 91, 95, 97), he won the World Championship 1990 gold, the 1996 Olympic silver and the 1999 European Championship bronze.

Zeljko Rebraca

Zeljko Rebraca was born on April 9, 1972 in Sombor. The main “actor” in the “Come Back of the Written-Off” at the 1998 World Championship. Named MVP of the Championship, he mostly contributed to the triumph of the national team that nobody believed in before the championship.
MVP of the 2000 Euroleague Final-Four, when he with Panathinaikos repeated the success he made with Partizan and won the title of European Champions. He played in the NBA league for many years. As a member of the national team he won three gold medals – the 1998 World Championship and the 1995, 1997 European Championships. He also treasures the 1996 Olympic silver and the 1999 European bronze.

Dejan Bodiroga

Dejan Bodiroga was born on March 2, 1973 in Zrenjanin. He was a player with unprecedented basketball intelligence. A true born leader, considered by many the best basketball player in the 1990s, who never played in the NBA, although he was drafted by Sacramento Kings, in 1995. The Winner of seven medals with the national team: gold (World Championship ‘98, World Championship 2002, European Championship ‘95, European Championship ‘97, European Championship 2001), silver (Olympic Games ‘96), bronze (European Championship ‘99). Holder of three European titles with his clubs (Barcelona, Panathinaikos), three times named MVP of the Euroleague Final-Four. The winner of the Saporta Cup with Real Madrid as well as the winner of 6 national leagues (Milan, Panathinaikos, Barcelona) and two national cups.

Predrag Stojakovic

Predrag Stojakovic was born on June 9, 1977 in Slavonska Pozega. He reached 4th place on the list of best NBA three-point shooters ever and thus confirmed the titles he won in shooting from behind the 7.25 line. Member of the Team West at the 2002 Old-Star game. His national team career did not last as long as everybody wanted. He won with the blues the gold medal at the 2001 European Championship in Turkey where he was named MVP of the championship. Also crowned with gold a year later at the World Championship in Indianapolis. His last appearance with the national team was at the 2003 European Championship in Sweden, where due to an injury he played only the games before 1/8 finals. In the season 2010/2011, he won the NBA ring with the team of Dallas Mavericks.
