Women’s national team will, on Saturday morning, set off  to Croatia where they will play their first game as part of qualifying tournament for EuroBasket 2023 on Sunday at 18h. All 15 players are traveling for this game.

“This is a new team and right now we cannot talk about expectations. The thing that is important is that they are working well and that they have good working energy. Players that already have some national team experiences have nicely introduced the younger players to team, which is completely different from this summer because now they are the ones who need to lead and score. Honestly, they need to talk on the court and to show us that they are ready for something like this,  if they are ready for this level. The fact is  that they are playing well for their clubs, they are all showing improvement from this summer, when they were with us for 4 months. That is a lot of time and that is why all of them made improvement that time. Now the most interesting part comes for them, so let’s let them talk, I hope that it will be positive. Now they are really important, and everything depends on them.”- said Marina Maljkovic.

Yesterday, in the first game of our group Croatia has defeated Bulgaria 84:73.

Until the end of the qualifiers 2 more “windows” will be played- in November 2022 Serbia will play two matches against Bulgaria, that is  against Croatia in Serbia.

38 national teams are fighting for 14 places on the EuroBasket 2023, where two places are already secured for hosts, Israel and Slovenia. Those 14 places will be filled with first seated teams from all 10 groups, and 4 best second placed teams.
